MOVING IN/OUT CLEANING778.654.615010 things to remember when moving!
1. Create a “to do” list
Not only does it break down the enormous task of remembering EVERYTHING that you need to do but it also helps you to not forget anything plus it sooooo satisfying when you cross things off. 2. Organize and de-clutter your belongings as you pack Moving out is the perfect opportunity to go through your things….get rid of anything that you are not using or haven’t used in the last year….less you have to pack and move. Give them to someone else who might have a use for them, or the less fortunate, you could even sell the item(s). 3. Pack at least one essential box This should contain everything that you are need at the very last minute moving out of your old house and into your new one. Things like; the kettle (or a coffee pot), utensil’s, can opener, toolkit, essential toiletries, snacks, pen and paper, some cash. 4. Make a plan for children and pets on moving day If you have pets or young children, moving can be quite stressful for them. If you can, get someone to look after them outside of the home during moving day. It will be less stress for everyone. 5. Packing your boxes Making sure that you have enough supplies-nothing is worst than getting to moving day and running out of boxes or tape and can’t find the scissors. Ziploc bags and reusable totes come in handy too! Make a house plan and label EVERYTHING accordingly-that way who ever help you move, takes it into the new house right into the room that it will belong in. Makes unpacking sooooo much easier. 6. Change of address and mail forwarding You can go to Canada post and have your mail forwarded to your new address-at the very least do that for now so that nothing gets missed. Then once you are all settled into your new home, begin the process of letting everyone know that you have moved including; family, friends, schools, doctors, ICBC, dentists to name a few. 7. Utilities/Service Providers Let your service providers know that you will no longer need the service at your current address and to transfer it to your new address if need be. Things like; Phone, internet provider, gas, home alarm monitoring, home insurance. All of that will need to be either to cancelled or transferred to avoid extra costs. 8. You can always hire movers-but make sure that you hire the right one with the proper insurance Let’s face it-no one loves your stuff as much as you do. So you want to make sure that the people that you are hiring are going to be as careful as they can. Do your due diligence, get at least three quotes and make sure they have the proper insurance coverage in case something happens-ask friend or family for recommendations. Make sure that you notify them of delicate, valuable or oversize items. 9. Go to Pinterest.com Search “moving”. Sooooooo many super awesome moving day hack posts. Enough said. You’re welcome. 10. Hire a professional cleaner You know the feeling. Coming home to a squeaky clean house…ah…so amazing! So why not give yourself that treat by calling a professional cleaner to make sure that your new home is fresh and ready for you to arrive and better yet also clean the house you are leaving too….. |
